SENIOR THESIS PROJECT
“MIND THE GAME” is a community-based initiative built to spread awareness for concussion safety in contact sports across the United States. Our goal is to educate athletes, coaches, and families with information regarding the dangers traumatic brain injuries and provide tools to aid athletes in their recovery so they can return to the sports they love.
This is a project I created to raise awareness about concussions and traumatic brain injuries in contact sports, an issue that has deeply impacted me as an athlete. Since I began playing as an ice hockey goaltender in 2014, I have been diagnosed with six concussions and have been managing post-concssuion
syndrome on daily basis since 2018.
Although concussions cannot be completely prevented, we can build a culture that values player safety, prioritizes proper recovery, and supports those affected by concussions. “MIND THE GAME” encourages an open conversation and education around traumatic brain injuries, aiming to create a space where athletes feel safe to speak up and take the time they need to heal.
